Siravo Medalist; Waves Advance to Match Play at WCC Championships

BREMERTON, Wash. – Sophomore Brady Siravo won the first tournament of his career on Saturday, and became the 15th Wave all-time and fifth in the last nine seasons to earn WCC Championship medalist honors after battling through a three-person, five-hole playoff at the par-72, 7,101-yard Golf Mountain Golf Club.

After the three competitors shot a 10-under 206, Siravo went head-to-head in a playoff with fellow Wave freshman William Walsh, as well as PCH Cup rival LMU opposition Riley Lewis.  Lewis bowed out early in the playoff, but the two Waves continued the bout until the fifth opportunity, when Siravo sank a 15-foot putt for the win.

Siravo started the day tied for fourth, having moved up three spots by the end of the final round.  In similar fashion, Walsh began tied for seventh, but posted one of the best rounds of the day to move up six spots and enter the playoff.  It was each Siravo's and Walsh's third times finishing in the top-10 and second time shooting under par in all three rounds of a single tournament this season.

The most recent medalist for the Waves at the league championship prior to this season was Clay Feagler in 2021 and he also won in a playoff.  The team went on to win the NCAA Championship crown that year.  Walsh was the second freshman in Pepperdine's history to finish in first after 54-holes – a feat that last occurred in 2001 by Randy Creighton.

As a team, the Waves amassed a score of 842 (286-274-282), defeating PCH Cup rival LMU by one stroke and staying ahead of the top-four cut by 15 strokes.  San Diego finished stroke play with a nine-shot lead.

Tomorrow, Pepperdine will begin match play by facing off with LMU in the semifinal.  The Waves and Lions will start on the 10th tee beginning at 7:30 a.m.  San Diego and Saint Mary's will face in the other semifinal.  The final will begin at approximately 1:30 p.m.
