Waves Continue at Western Intercollegiate

SANTA CRUZ, Calif. – Sophomore Mahanth Chirravuri is in second-place to lead the Pepperdine men's golf team, as the Waves finished up the second round of the 77th annual Western Intercollegiate on Tuesday.

With his two-round score of 137 (68-69), Churravuri leads the Waves and is only one shot behind Filip Jakubcik of Arizona in the lead.  The Waves tied for the second-best round of the day after shooting a 5-over 355 at the par-70, 6,486-yard Pasatiempo Golf Club. 

Pepperdine has collected a two-day score of 725 (370-355) and will head into the final round in 11th-place.  The team is three shots behind the two teams tied for ninth and 10 shots out of the top-five.  Stanford currently has a two-shot lead.

Tomorrow, the Waves will be paired with Chattanooga, San Jose State and UNLV beginning at 9:28 a.m. PT.  Live coverage on GOLF Channel will be from 4-7 p.m.  As in the previous rounds, scoring will be play six, count five for the final round as well.

PLAYER SCORES
  • Sophomore Mahanth Chirravuri (Chandler, Ariz.) has a two-day score of 137 (68-69), which is good for second-place.  He followed up a stellar first round with three birdies in his first four holes of the day.  Though he made the turn 1-under, he stayed even on the back nine with another pair of birdies to finish out the day.  He has posted nine birdies throughout the tournament thus far, which is second most out of all competitors.
  • Sophomore Brady Siravo (Sacramento, Calif.) had the best round of the day for the Waves, shooting 2-under for a score of 142 (74-68) to tie for 20th.  He shot even par through his first six holes, though made the turn 1-over after a pair of bogeys and a birdie.  He shot 3-under through his final seven holes with a birdie and eagle one-two punch on holes 17 and 18.  He has marked five birdies and one eagle so far this tournament.
  • Freshman Kristoffer Kuvaas (Houston, Texas) is tied for 27th with a score of 143 (74-69).  He opened the round shooting 2-under through six holes before going over after the turn.  Though he rallied with two more birdies in his final six bogeyless holes to finish 1-under.  He has amassed six birdies overall.
  • Freshman William Walsh (San Mateo, Calif.) has posted a 150 (74-76) through two rounds to tie for 66th heading into the final round.  He produced four birdies today and has posted six birdies in the tournament.
  • Sophomore Joshua Koo (Cerritos, Calif.) is tied for 85th with a score of 155 (82-73).  He tallied four birdies in the second round and has amassed six overall.
  • Sophomore Takanobu Kanda (Tokyo, Japan) is in 95th with a score of 166 (80-86).
