MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's and women's track teams continued the outdoor season at two different meets this past weekend, running at the AstroAI Distance Classic and Oxy Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic, collecting multiple top-10 finishes.
Ryan Fabian, Johnathan Flint and
Skyler Danley all notched spots on Pepperdine all-time lists.
On Friday night at the AstroAI Distance Classic hosted by Cal State Fullerton, junior Flint (Flower Mound, Texas/Flower Mound HS), ran in the men's 10,000 meters crossing the finish line at 30:26.81. That mark was good for ninth overall and moved him from fourth to second on the Pepperdine all-time list. Graduate student
Will Bullock (Marrieta, Ga./Kennesaw Mountain HS/Eastern Illinois) also ran at Fullerton in the men's 10,000m clocking in at 32:41.42.
On Saturday at the Oxy Distance Carnival and Spring Break Classic, freshman Fabian (Oxnard, Calif./Oxnard HS), competed in the men's 800 meters with a fifth overall finish in a time of 1:53.25, which also moved him from fifth all-time to third on the Pepperdine all-time list.
Senior Danley (Easton, Pa./Easton Area HS), competed in the women's 5,000 meters coming in at a time of 18:20.78, which is a new personal record and keeps her name 10th on the Pepperdine all-time list.
The first event for the Waves on Saturday morning was the women's 4x100 meter relay with sophomore
Kaley Peterson (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis HS), freshmen
Jenna Parsio (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro HS),
Isabella Reyes (Caldwell, Idaho) and
Mia Skuraton (Mendham, N.J./Perkiomen School) posted a third-place overall finish in a time of 48.90. Pasrio had the Waves' fastest time in the second event of the day, the women's 400 meters, earning a fourth-place overall finish in a time of 1:01.20.
The women's 400m was followed by the men's 400m, where junior
William Watkins (Mill Valley, Calif./Marin Catholic HS) crossed the finish line in a time of 50.56 for a sixth-place overall finish. Peterson was in the women's 100m, coming in at 12.32 with a fourth-place overall finish.
The Waves' women competed in the 4x400 meter, with Peterson,
Whitney Johnson (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo HS), Skuraton and Parsio having notched a second-place overall finish in a time of 4:08.76.
Sophomore
Kira Graves (Duarte, Calif./Arcadis HS) had the women's fastest time in the 800m at 2:27.15. Freshman
Spencer Mueller (Fresno, Calif./Clovis North HS) had a ninth-place finish in the men's 800m in a time of 1:55.75.
Senior
Olivia MIller (Tallahassee, Fla./Lawton Chiles HS) had an eighth-place finish in the women's 1,500m in a time of 4:44.31. The men's 1,500m was after the women's, and junior
Ryan Hemphill (Visalia, Calif./Redwood)) collected a time of 4:02.66. In the final race of the night for the Waves, freshman
Patrick Thomas (Paso Robles, Calif./Mission College Prep) had the men's fastest time in the 5,000m, clocking in at 15:11.85.
The Waves will be back in action on Friday, March 24 and Saturday, March 25 at the Bob Larsen Distance Invitational hosted by UCLA.
