Pepperdine to Compete in MPSF Championships

MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine women's track team is headed to the Pacific Northwest to compete in the MPSF Championships for the first time in program history. This season marks the first that the squad has been part of the MPSF as the Waves joined the conference in summer 2022.

The meet will be held at The Podium in Spokane, Wash., beginning on Friday, Feb. 17 with the preliminary rounds and the finals on Saturday, Feb. 18. The running events will begin at 3 p.m and will be streamed on FloTrack with a subscription.

The Waves wrapped its second outdoor meet two weeks ago on Feb. 5, at the Portland Indoor.

Freshman Mia Skuraton (Mendham, N.J./Perkiomen School) was the top performer for the Waves in the women's 400 meters posting a time of 1:02.49, which was good for second in her heat and ninth overall. Freshman Abby Winter (Edina, Minn./Southwest Christian HS) had Pepperdine's best time in the indoor mile, clocking in at 5:29.87, which was good for seventh in her heat.

Freshmen Caroline Graham (Hockessin, Del./Delaware Military Academy) and Nicole Hartung (Santa Clarita, Calif./Saugus HS) competed in the women's 800 meters for the Waves. Graham had a showing of 2:31.37 in her heat, while Hartung crossed the line at 2:47.20 in the second heat.

Pepperdine had three groups race in the women's indoor 4x400 meter relay, with sophomore Kaley Peterson (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis HS), freshman Isabella Reyes (Caldwell,Idaho), Skuraton and Winter having the top time. The crew collected a time of 4:13.44 which was good for second in their heat and third overall.

Pepperdine will have another two-week break before opening up the outdoor season at a familiar meet in the Rossi Relays on Saturday, Feb. 25. Last season at the Rossi Relays, two school records were broken and the Pepperdine men garnered a new school record competing in the spring medley relay for the first time.
