
Two School Records Notched at MPSF Indoor Championships

SPOKANE, Wash. – The Pepperdine women's track team wrapped up the indoor season at the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation Indoor Championships held at The Podium on Saturday morning. Olivia Miller and Kaley Peterson highlighted the meet by notching new school records.

Miller (Tallahassee, Fla./Lawton Chiles HS) now holds the Pepperdine indoor mile school record after she clocked in at 5:10.33, which is also a personal record. Peterson (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis HS) crossed the finish line in the indoor 200 meters in a time of 25.11 for the new school record and a personal record. Peterson also competed in the 60 meters with a time of 7.89.

Freshman Mia Skuraton (Mendham, N.J./Perkiomen School) had the team's best time in the 400 meters, with a time of 1:00.72, which is also a personal record for her. Freshman Caroline Graham (Hockessin, Del./Delaware Military Academy) notched a personal record and the squad's fastest time in the 800 meters coming in at 2:29.17.

In the distance events, sophomore Megan La Camera (Burbank, Calif./Burbank HS) ran a 10:43.41 in the 3,000 meters. Senior Skyler Danley (Easton, Pa./Easton Area HS) clocked in the 5,000 meters in a time of 18:39.93.

The Waves had a squad in both the 4x400 meter relay and the distance medley relay. Representing the Waves in the 4x400m was Peterson, sophomore Whitney Johnson (Mission Viejo, Calif./Mission Viejo HS), Skuraton and freshman Jenna Parsio (Lake Forest, Calif./El Toro HS) finishing in a time of 4:04.84. In the distance medley, the squad that ran for Pepperdine were freshman Abby Winter (Edina, Minn./Southwest Christian HS), Parsio, Johnson and Miller, collecting a time of 12:52.50.

"Our first MPSF Championships was a great experience," said head coach Lauren Floris. "We came away with a lot of personal bests and two school records - the first for the women's program during my time here. We're far ahead of where we were as a team at this time last year so I'm excited to see what the outdoor season has in store!"

The Waves will kick off the outdoor season in one week at the Rossi Relays in Claremont, Calif., on Saturday, Feb. 25.
