Waves Through Two Rounds in Georgia

ALPHARETTA, Ga. – The Pepperdine men's golf team moved up to ninth-place at the Golf Club of Georgia Collegiate after shooting two-over in the second round on Saturday at the par-72 Lakeside Course. 

The team has a two-day score of 578 (288-290).  Mahanth Chirravuri is leading the Waves, one-stroke shy of the lead and currently tied for third after shooting a tied-career high 66 in the round today. 

The Waves are two and three shots ahead of USC and UCLA after today and six strokes away from the top-five.  East Tennessee State followed up a big round yesterday with another solid round today to hold the lead 17-under.

  • Sophomore Mahanth Chirravuri (Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton HS/USC) has a two-day total of 136 (70-66), having shot under par for both rounds to sit tied for third and only one stroke away from the lead.  His 6-under 66 today tied his career-best, which he tabbed his freshman season at USC.  Chirravuri has tabbed 12 birdies this weekend thus far, including eight in the second round.  He amassed seven of those birdies today in 13 flawless holes during the middle of the round.
  • Freshman William Walsh (San Mateo, Calif./Junipero Serra HS) is tied for 21st with a score of 143 (71-72).  He has marked five birdies in total, including a pair in his first bogeyless 12 holes of the round today.
  • Sophomore Joshua Koo (Cerritos, Calif./Cerritos HS/Washington) and freshman Kristoffer Kuvaas (Houston, Texas/The Village School) are tied for 58th with a two-round score of 150.  Koo (74-76) has amassed five birdies and an eagle throughout the tournament, including a pair of birdies before the turn in the round today.  Kuvaas (73-77) has marked six birdies, including a pair today as well.
  • Sophomore Brady Siravo (Sacramento, Calif./Jesuit HS) is tied for 64th with a 151 (75-76).  He has tabbed a pair of birdies and eagles, including his second eagle on hole nine today.
 
UP NEXT:
For the third and final round tomorrow, the Waves will tee off at hole one at 5:30 a.m. PT.  Pepperdine will be paired with Charlotte and Tennessee.
