
#16 Beach Volleyball Heads to Texas for Final Regular Season Duals

MALIBU, Calif. – The #16 Pepperdine beach volleyball team will face the final four opponents in the regular season this weekend, heading to Fort Worth for the TCU Invitational on Friday and Saturday. The Waves will face off against #2 TCU, #9 Stanford, Missouri State and Houston Baptist throughout the weekend.
DUAL 26: Friday (April 15) at the TCU Beach Volleyball Courts in Fort Worth, Texas: #16 Pepperdine (17-8) vs. Houston Baptist (10-17) at 10 a.m. PT.
DUAL 27: Friday (April 15) at the TCU Beach Volleyball Courts in Fort Worth, Texas: #16 Pepperdine (17-8) vs. Missouri State (12-10) at 2 p.m. PT.
DUAL 28: Saturday (April 16) at the TCU Beach Volleyball Courts in Fort Worth, Texas: #16 Pepperdine (17-8) vs. #9 Stanford (17-7) at 5:30 a.m. PT.
DUAL 29: Saturday (April 16) at the TCU Beach Volleyball Courts in Fort Worth, Texas: #16 Pepperdine (17-8) at #2 TCU (32-2) at 9:30 a.m. PT.

WAVES WEATHER: On Friday, weather in Fort Worth shows a high of 89º with clouds and sunshine throughout. There will be winds running South from 10-20 miles per hour and humidity is currently sitting at a low 5%. On Saturday, there will be a high of 82º with considerable cloudiness. Winds will run South, Southeast from 10 to 20 miles per hour as well. Humidity on Saturday is slated for 24%.
SURF REPORT: The Waves have gone 17-8 overall this season, staying perfect when playing at home with a 5-0 record, while amassing a 3-3 record on the road and a 9-5 record when playing on neutral courts. The squad closed up last week with a 5-0 sweep over CSUN on Senior Day.
Melanie Paul and Madison Shields have held down the #1 position this season, posting a 19-6 overall record and going 42-15 in sets played. The pair has gone 8-2 in their last 10 matches and has amassed five clinches for the Waves this season.Â
Simone Priebe and McKenna Thomas have been the squad's winningest pair this season after having accumulated a 21-4 pairs record and an impressive 44-12 record by sets. The duo has clinched a pair of matches this season and has currently gone 8-2 against their last 10 opponents.Â
In the #3 position, Peyton Lewis and Juju Quintero have been holding steady and have gone 7-11 as a pairing, posting four wins in the No. 3 position and three wins in the No. 4 slot. They have clinched two wins for the Waves this season. A few various pairings have also played in the No. 4 and 5 slots throughout the season. Last weekend against CSUN, Cameron Baklenko and Kate Clermont collected a 2-0 win for their first win as a partnership, while Savana Greene and Rio Frohoff posted a 2-1 win for their first outing as a duo. Different Pepperdine pairings in the No. 5 slot have clinched the win on four occasions for the Waves, while one duo in the No. 4 position clinched this season.
OPPONENT NOTES: #2 TCU has gone 32-2 overall this season, with an untarnished 9-0 record at home. Last weekend, the Horned Frogs defeated #5 LSU, #15 Florida International, #19 Stetson and Texas A&M Corpus Christi, but were felled 4-1 by #4 Florida State, a team the Waves downed 3-2 two weeks ago. All-time, the Waves hold a perfect 5-0 record against the Horned Frogs, dating back to 2015. From that point through 2019, Pepperdine collected four-out-of-five sweeps.
#9 Stanford has gone 17-7 overall this season, with a 7-3 record when playing on neutral sand. Last week, the Cardinal fell 5-0 to top-ranked USC, but defeated #12 Cal, #17 Arizona and Washington. All-time, Pepperdine has gone 2-1 against Stanford, dating back to the 2019 campaign when the Waves won two-straight.
Missouri State has gone 12-10 against opponents this season, including an even 6-6 output when playing on neutral courts. Â Last week, the Bears downed Ottawa and Hendrix College, while falling to Tulane and UT Martin. Â Pepperdine and Missouri State faced once in 2021 and the Waves took home a 5-0 victory.
Houston Baptist has gone 10-17 this season, with a 6-9 output on neutral sand. Last week, the team split, winning against Stephen F. Austin and falling to Texas A&M Kingsville.  This will be the first meeting between these two teams.
LOOKING AHEAD: After closing out the final week of the regular season, Pepperdine will hit the postseason push, beginning at the WCC Championships in Santa Monica, Calif. on Friday and Saturday, April 29 and 30.
