Track Women Open 2022 Indoor Season in Utah

MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine women's track team opens the indoor season this weekend at the BYU Indoor Invite in Provo, Utah. The Waves did not compete in any indoor meets last season. 

MEET DETAILS

The meet will be hosted by BYU at the Smith Fieldhouse in Provo, Utah, on Saturday January 15. Racing will begin at 9 a.m. PT. 

WOMEN'S ROSTER

Junior Skyler Danley (Easton, Pa./Easton Area HS) was one of Waves' top runners in the 2020 season and is expected to be a top runner again. She had the best performance in the 3,000 and the 5,000, setting both indoor school records. She ran the indoor 3,000 in a time of 10:39.88 and the indoor 5,000 in a time of 18:29.7. Danley has marked her name on the Waves' all-time outdoor performance list for the 3,000 at sixth and for the 5,000 at ninth. 

Additional key returners are senior Tiffany Egbo (Gilbert, Ariz./Highland HS) who had the team's fastest time in 2020 in the indoor 400 and 600 and senior Alexa Ortega (Chatsworth, Calif./St. Genevieve HS) who was third in the indoor 60 meters. Junior Olivia Miller (Tallahassee, Fla./Lawton Chiles HS) was second on the team in 2020 in the indoor 800 with a time of 2:28.73. 

The Waves are also bringing in notable freshmen in Brooke Bakken (Norwalk, Wis./Tomah HS), Leah Dixon (Reno, Nev./Damonte Ranch HS), Caroline Fleenor (Alexandria, Va./Bishop O'Connell HS), Abigail Howard (Jefferson, Ga./Jefferson HS), Megan LaCamera (Burbank, Calif./Burbank HS), Eden Mittelsdorf (Nashville, Tenn./Brentwood HS), Maddy Ortman (Highlands Ranch, Colo./Valor Christian HS), Kaley Peterson (Sunnyvale, Calif./Saint Francis HS) and Lauren Rocco (Port Orange, Fla./Spruce Creek HS).

The women will have a week break before heading to another indoor meet in Albuquerque, New Mexico, for the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Invitational on January 22.
