MALIBU, California – Several members of the Pepperdine men's volleyball team will be spending late July and early August at a USA Volleyball training camp in Anaheim.
Head coach
David Hunt has been named assistant coach of the Men's Collegiate National Training Team. The 26-man roster includes grad transfer opposite
Jaylen Jasper (Annapolis, Md./Broadneck Senior HS/Stanford), senior outside hitter
Spencer Wickens (Irondequoit, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit HS) and senior middle blocker
Austin Wilmot (Valley Village, Calif./Crespi Carmelite HS/UC Irvine).
The 21-man Men's U21 National Training team features sophomore libero
Trey Cole (Long Island, N.Y./Connetquot HS), sophomore setter
Bryce Dvorak (Newport Beach, Calif./Corona del Mar HS) and junior setter
Joe Karlous (Costa Mesa, Calif./Newport Harbor HS).
The camp coincides with the Olympics. The Men's Collegiate National Training Team and the U21 team do not have any international events scheduled this summer, so there will be a joint training session at the National Team Training Center.
Pepperdine concluded the 2021 season ranked #5 in the country. The Waves went 13-7 overall, finished third in the MPSF regular season, was the runner-up at the MPSF Tournament and competed in the opening rounds of the NCAA Championships.

Cole received Freshman All-American honors from Off the Block. Karlous was MPSF All-Freshman in 2020. Jasper joins the Waves after a standout career at Stanford that saw him earn three-time AVCA All-American honorable mention status (2018-20). He sat out the 2021 season.
