#5 Women's Tennis Defeats Saint Mary's 6-1

MORAGA, Calif. – The fifth-ranked Pepperdine women's tennis squad saw little resistance against Saint Mary's, defeating the Gaels 6-1 on Friday afternoon.

The Waves began the day a little out of position in doubles play, where Pepperdine surrendered the doubles point to the Gaels on courts one and three.
That was the last point of the day for Saint Mary's, however, as the Waves won all six courts in singles. Astrid Olsen kicked off the wins on court six, winning easily at 6-0, 6-3 for the first Pepperdine point of the afternoon. Ashley Lahey followed soon after, winning 6-3, 6-4 in familiar territory on court one, as freshman Nikki Redelijk continued the Waves' wins on court five, going 6-1, 6-2 to put Pepperdine up 3-1.
Shiori Fukuda earned the clinch point on court three where she won 6-3, 6-2 to secure the win. As all courts were played to competition, Lisa Zaar was up next in the win column on court four, taking a 6-4, 7-5 penultimate win.
#115 Taisiya Pachkaleva rounded out the day for the Waves, winning in three sets at 6-3, 2-6, 6-2 for her 13th-straight singles win this season.

The #5 Waves will hop in the bus for an hour drive over to Stockton to take on Pacific tomorrow at noon.
