MALIBU, Calif. – After last weekend's routing of top-25 schools Stanford and Cal, the fifth-ranked Waves will head back up to the Bay Area to resume West Coast Conference play on Friday.
MATCH #16: #5 Pepperdine (13-2, 2-0 WCC) at Saint Mary's (4-6, 2-2 WCC) | Friday, April 9 | 2 p.m. | Moraga, Calif.
MATCH #17: #5 Pepperdine (13-2, 2-0 WCC) at Pacific (4-8, 1-3 WCC) | Saturday, April 10 | 12 p.m. | Stockton, Calif.
SCOUTING THE OPPONENTS
Saint Mary's currently sits at 4-6 on the season, earning non-conference wins over Sacramento State, San Jose State and UC Davis. The Gaels dropped matches against then-#17 USC and #24 Stanford, only accruing one team point total through both matches. Already halfway through WCC play, the Gaels earned two 4-3 wins over BYU and Santa Clara. Saint Mary's has no ranked singles or doubles players.
Sitting at 4-8, Pacific has played largely the same local teams as Saint Mary's, while only earning wins over DII Fresno Pacific, Sacramento State and Northern Arizona. The Tigers' last four matches have been WCC opponents, seeing a 5-2 win over Santa Clara but dropping to San Diego, BYU and San Francisco. Pacific has no ranked singles or doubles players.

After a thrilling weekend against two top-25 teams, the Waves are back in the Bay and ready for action. Against #25 Stanford, Pepperdine needed a tie break for the tie-breaking third set on court five, where reigning WCC Singles Player of the Week stormed back from being down 2-6 to winning at 8-6 for the clinching fourth team point.

Fukuda is on a streak of her own, winning eight of her last nine singles matches. Failla stands at an impressive 10-2 in dual singles.
#115 Taisiya Pachkaleva is currently riding a 12-match winning streak, as her last loss came back in February against then-#6 Georgia Tech in the ITA Indoors.
