HOME ATTENDANCE — Per the current COVID-19 guidelines set by the state of California and Los Angeles County, spectators are not permitted to attend home matches at Tari Frahm Rokus Field.
OPPONENT — Pepperdine is 15-8-5 all-time against Loyola Marymount and has won three in a row. The record is 8-4-1 in Malibu. Calista Reyes scored all the Waves' goals in 1-0 and 2-1 victories in 2017 and 2018, respectively. Trinity Watson scored an overtime game-winner for a 1-0 victory in 2019 at LMU. Eleven of the 28 all-time meetings have gone to overtime.
PCH CUP — An annual all-sport competition between two local rivals that are separated by just 19.1 miles of scenic coastline, the PCH Cup is in its 12th season of existence. Pepperdine has won nine of the 11 previous years. A home win is worth one point, a road victory is worth 1.5 points.
LAST MATCH — Pepperdine and #11 Santa Clara played an incredible match on Tuesday, with each side scoring three goals in a 15-minute span in the second half. But the Broncos ended up getting the game-winner in overtime, 4-3, ending a 10-match losing streak in Malibu. Trinity Watson and Leyla McFarland scored equalizers after SCU went up 1-0 and 2-1, and Aliyah Satterfield momentarily gave Pepperdine a 3-2 lead in the 79th minute.
AWARDS — Pepperdine has won four consecutive WCC Defensive Player of the Week awards ... Trinity Watson received the honor on March 9 (after a shutout win vs. San Francisco in which she assisted on the game-winning goal) and on March 16 (after her two-goal game at Pacific). She's also been named to the Top Drawer Soccer national team of the week twice (Feb. 16, after she scored the game's first goal against USD, and March 9) ... Zoe Clevely received the WCC award on March 2 (after the shutout win at Saint Mary's, which included a save on a penalty kick) and on March 22 (after a career-high-tying seven saves in the shutout at Portland) ... Emily Sample was named to Top Drawer Soccer's national team of the week on March 2 after the shutout win at Saint Mary's.
NOTABLE — Pepperdine outshot the opponent in each of the first seven games ... Nine different players have scored the Waves' 16 goals this season (Trinity Watson leads with four and Tori Waldeck has three) ... Pepperdine's three losses this season have come to teams ranked #3, #4 and #11 in the country at the time of the contest ... Seventeen players have started a game this season and four (Waldeck, Watson, Madi Cook, Emily Sample) have started every match.
ANDERSON — Senior midfielder Joelle Anderson was picked in the third round of the 2021 NWSL Draft by the Houston Dash, but she's got business to finish in Malibu before she joins the pros. The three-time All-WCC pick (two-time first team) and two-time All-West Region honoree (2019 first team) has accumulated 22 goals (ninth all-time at Pepperdine), nine game-winning goals (tied for sixth), 14 assists and 58 points in her career. Anderson was named to the MAC Hermann Trophy preseason watch list.
ABOUT PEPPERDINE UNIVERSITY — Pepperdine boasts a one-of-a-kind athletic department with unprecedented success for a school of its size. The Waves have won NCAA Division I championships in five different men's sports — one of just 18 schools to have accomplished this feat — and nine overall. Of this elite group, Pepperdine has the smallest undergraduate enrollment, is the only school without football and is the only university that has not been affiliated with a "major" conference. The Waves have won a total of 25 team or individual national championships in their history. Pepperdine has also earned the Division I-AAA All-Sports Trophy, an award based on postseason success that's given to the top non-football school, three times (most recently in 2011-12). Located in scenic Malibu, California, the university overlooks the Pacific Ocean and its campus and athletic facilities are regularly voted among the nation's most beautiful. Pepperdine, which is affiliated with the Church of Christ, ranks #49 overall on U.S. News and World Report's list of America's best colleges.
