MALIBU, California -- Basketball season is less than a month away, and on Friday night, Pepperdine students, families and fans got their first look at the Waves' men's and women's teams at the annual Blue & Orange Madness event in Firestone Fieldhouse.
In addition to the introductions of the two teams, the women held a three-point shooting competition (won by sophomore
Kendyl Carson) and the men put on a slam dunk contest (won by freshman
Maxwell Lewis).
Fans also enjoyed the national anthem performed by Won By One, a halfcourt shot for tuition that was nearly made by President
Jim Gash and a performance by the Step Team.
The women have their first home game on Friday, November 5, with an exhibition against Cal State LA, while the first men's home game will be on Friday, November 12, against Idaho State.
