PALO ALTO, California – Led by Lauren Gomez's 1-under 70, the Pepperdine women's golf team began play at the Stanford Intercollegiate on Friday.

The Waves are tied for 11th place after an opening-round 296 at the par-71 Stanford Golf Course.

PLAYER SCORES

Freshman Lauren Gomez (Murrieta, Calif.) is tied for 11th place after her 1-under 70. After her first 12 holes she had 11 pars and one bogey, and then she finished two birdies over the final six holes.
Sophomore Lion Higo (Gold Coast, Australia) is tied for 25th after a 72. She had one birdie and 15 pars on the day.
Sophomore Kaleiya Romero (San Jose, Calif.) is tied for 51st at 75. She recorded a pair of birdies on Friday.
Freshman Milla Sagel (Bielefeld, Germany) is tied for 72nd after a 79. She had two birdies plus an eagle on the par-5 16th hole.
Senior Sifan He (Shanghai, China) is in 90th after an 88.

UP NEXT

Pepperdine will again be paired with Northwestern and Iowa State for Saturday's second round. They'll start on the first tee at 7:30 a.m.
