No. 13 Women’s Golf Finishes Third in Historic Week at Golfweek Red Sky Classic

WOLCOTT, Colo. — No. 13 Pepperdine women's golf wrapped up the Golfweek Red Sky Classic in a tie for third-place among 20 teams from Red Sky Golf Club this week in Wolcott, Colo.
The Waves finished the tournament with a 32-under mark for the tournament, the second-lowest score to par in a tournament in program history. Pepperdine shot 16-under par in Wednesday's final round, tying for the third-lowest single round score in program history.
Eunseo Choi finished the tournament as the individual runner-up at 14-under par on the week, the third-lowest 54-hole score to par from a Wave in program history.
Grace Anderson carded a career-best 64 (-8) today, which is one of just seven rounds from a Wave of 8-under or better in its history. Eunseo Choi & Kylee Choi each shot a 66 (-6) on the day as well, marking the 23rd and 24th rounds of 6-under or better that the program has seen.
The trio each finished in the top-10 individually as the Waves finished one stroke back of runner-up Miami (-33) and 15 strokes back of champion USC (-47).
"The Waves love playing each year in the Golfweek Red Sky Classic in beautiful Vail, Colorado," said head coach Laurie Gibbs. "I'm very proud of the players fighting for scores all 54 holes. Grace's 64 (8-under) was an incredible score and earned a 5th-place finish. Kylee's 66 (6-under) gave her another top-10 finish and Eunseo's 66 (6-under) placed her in 2nd place in a field with many of the best players in the country. Finishing tied for third as a team in a strong field of 20 teams is a great start to the season."
Eunseo Choi finished the tournament with a runner-up finish at 14-under (69-67-66) with three consecutive rounds in the 60s. Choi made the turn at 1-under today before shooting a 31 on the back-nine to post the third 66 of her Pepperdine career. She made three birdies and an eagle on the back nine to surge into solo second-place. Her mark of 14-under trails only Lisa McCloskey's 17-under at the 2008 Las Vegas Collegiate Showdown and Katherine Hull's 16-under at the 2003 SJSU Spartan Invitational as the lowest tournament scores in program history.
Grace Anderson posted a new career-low single round score by five strokes with 64 (-8) on the day. The fifth-place individual finish also marked a new career-best, as she finished the tournament at 11-under par (69-72-64). Anderson caught fire on the back nine, making birdie on holes 12, 14 and 16-18 with an eagle on the par-5 15th. The 8-under mark is tied for the third-lowest round in program history as she is one of just six Waves to record a round of 64 or better.
Kylee Choi recorded another top-10 finish to begin the season with a 10-under (70-70-66) mark on the week. She was at her best in today's final round, making seven birdies on the day, including a stretch of five in seven holes from 12-18, to get in with a 66 (-6). The round marked the second-lowest score of her Pepperdine career, having logged a 65 in the final round of last year's Red Sky Classic.
Irene Kim rounded out her tournament with a 4-over par round today, moving her to 59th individually at 3-over (72-71-76) for the week. Her lone birdie of the day came on the 14th as she recorded a 39 on the front nine and 37 on the back.
Katelyn Kong completed her week with a 77 (+5) in the final round. Kong finished with a 13-over (75-77-77) mark for the tournament for a 97th-place finish individually.

The Waves will return to action for the Haskins Women's Intercollegiate, set for Oct. 12-13 from the Country Club of Columbus in Columbus, Ga.
