No. 13 Women’s Golf in Fourth Following Golfweek Red Sky Classic Opening Round

WOLCOTT, Colo. — No. 13 Pepperdine women's golf shot 8-under par in the opening round of the Golfweek Red Sky Classic from Red Sky Golf Club on Monday.
The Waves sit in fourth place as a team among the field of 20 which features eight teams ranked in the Golf Channel Preseason Top-30. USC holds the lead at 22-under which marked a new single round tournament record.
Grace Anderson and Eunsoi Choi paced the Waves with 3-under rounds of 69, putting them in the top-10 on the individual leaderboard through 18 holes.
"It was a good start for the Waves today in the first round," said head coach Laurie Gibbs. "We look forward to tomorrow's second round and moving up the scoreboard against some very good teams."
Anderson rebounded from a bogey on the first hole with a clean scorecard the rest of the way, eventually carding a round of 69 (-3) with four birdies on the day. She sits in a tie for ninth individually heading into tomorrow's second round.
Eunseo Choi also came in with a round of 69 (-3), to match Anderson in ninth place. Choi made seven birdies on the day, firing a 33 on the front nine before going even par on the back nine.
Kylee Choi posted a 70 (-2), putting her in a tie for 17th on the individual leaderboard. Choi logged a bogey-free round, making a pair of birdies to continue the strong start to her sophomore campaign.
Irene Kim rounded out the scoring group for the Waves with an even par round of 72. Kim made the turn at 1-over, eventually making four birdies on the back nine to get back to even for the day.
Katelyn Kong finished her opening round with a 3-over 75, carding four birdies on the front nine to make the turn at 1-over before shooting a 38 on the back nine.
The Waves will begin to tee off at 10:40 a.m. PT tomorrow off hole one alongside USC, Miami and Texas A&M.
