MALIBU, California – Alex Gettinger, a rising senior for the Pepperdine men's volleyball team, has been named to the 2020 USA Volleyball Collegiate National Team.
 
Sixteen players were selected to be part of the team. Unfortunately, due to the global coronavirus pandemic, the team will not be able to train and compete this summer, but USA Volleyball wanted to recognize a group that was selected via an open video tryout.
 
Gettinger (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette HS) saw the first extended playing time of his college career this past season, appearing in 11 of Pepperdine's 14 matches while making seven starts at outside hitter as a junior. He averaged 2.06 kills, 1.40 digs, 0.54 blocks and 0.34 aces per set. He had a career-high 16 kills against Concordia on February 12.
 
Pepperdine ended the shortened 2020 season ranked #8 by the AVCA and with records of 8-6 overall and 3-2 in the MPSF.
