
Five Waves Earn MPSF Volleyball All-Academic

MALIBU, California – Five members of the Pepperdine men's volleyball team – JT Ardell, Noah Dyer, Alex Gettinger, Jacob Steele and Spencer Wickens – received All-Academic status from the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation today.
To qualify, student-athletes must have at least a 3.00 cumulative grade-point average, have spent at least one full year at their school prior to the season and have participated in at least 50 percent of the season's competitions.
This is Dyer's third time earning MPSF All-Academic, and the second for Wickens.
Ardell (Glen Ellyn, Ill./Glenbard West HS), a redshirt freshman middle blocker who is a pre-integrated marketing communications major, moved into the starting lineup partway through the season and led the MPSF in blocks (1.31). He also averaged 1.07 kills per set.
Dyer (San Clemente, Calif./Saddleback Christian HS), a senior outside hitter who is a business administration major, led the Waves in both points per set (3.44) and kills per set (2.84). He ranked ninth and 10th in the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation in those two categories, respectively. He was also ninth in service aces per set (0.29). He also averaged 1.18 digs and 0.59 blocks. He was named AVCA All-American honorable mention and to the All-MPSF first team.
Gettinger (Wildwood, Mo./Lafayette HS), a junior outside hitter who is a sport administration major, averaged 2.06 kills and 1.40 digs. He was second on the team with 12 service aces.
Steele (Trabuco Canyon, Calif./El Toro HS), a redshirt freshman opposite who is a computer science/math major, was second on the Waves with 2.54 kills per set. He also averaged 1.27 digs and 0.60 blocks.
Wickens (Irondequoit, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit HS), a junior sport administration major, saw regular action as a serving and back row specialist and occasional action as an outside hitter over the course of the season.
Pepperdine ended the shortened season ranked #8 by the AVCA and with records of 8-6 overall and 3-2 in the MPSF.
