WAVEPOINTS
• The regular season comes to an end this Saturday afternoon when the Pepperdine men's basketball team hosts #17 BYU.
• Pepperdine seniors
Kameron Edwards and
Robbie Skead will be honored before the game.
• The Waves have locked in a top-six finish in the WCC (meaning a first-round bye in the WCC Tournament). They could finish as high as tied for fourth with a win and two Pacific losses.
• The Waves are attempting to defeat a ranked opponent for the first time since beating #20 Wisconsin at home on 11/27/2004.
•
Colbey Ross, who made the Lou Henson Award midseason watch list, is on a pace to break his own school record with 7.2 assists per game. Nationally, he's first in total assists (209) and sixth in assists per game. Ross has more career assists than any junior in the country with 627 (second place is 34 assists back) and he's seventh among all active Division I players. He's one assist away from entering the WCC's all-time top 10 (he'll pass BYU great Kyle Collinsworth for 10th).
• Overall, Ross leads the WCC in assists (7.2) and is second in scoring (20.2). In conference games only, he's first in both scoring (20.6) and assists (7.0). He has scored at least 20 points in six straight games. He's second nationally in minutes played (1,084).
• Ross set Pepperdine's career record for assists on December 14 and is now taking aim at the career scoring record. He's in third place (1,694), seven points behind second place (Dane Suttle) and 92 points away from Stacy Davis' record.Â
•
Kessler Edwards leads the WCC in blocked shots (1.9). His 54 blocks rank ninth on the Waves' single-season list. He's 10th all-time at Pepperdine with 88 career blocks.
• Pepperdine ranks fourth nationally in free throw percentage at 79.5%. Ross leads the WCC at 85.9% and has made 158 free throws, fifth-most nationally.
• The Waves will open the WCC Tournament on Friday, March 6, as the #5 or #6 seed.

PEPPERDINE — Pepperdine boasts a one-of-a-kind athletic department with unprecedented success for a school of its size. The Waves have won NCAA Division I championships in five different men's sports — one of just 18 schools to have accomplished this feat — and nine overall. Of this elite group, Pepperdine has the smallest undergraduate enrollment, is the only school without football and is the only university that has not been affiliated with a "major" conference. The Waves have won a total of 25 team or individual national championships in their history. Pepperdine has also earned the Division I-AAA All-Sports Trophy, an award based on postseason success that's given to the top non-football school, three times (most recently in 2011-12). The Waves have produced 205 conference championships, 318 All-Americans and 53 Olympians. Located in scenic Malibu, California, the university overlooks the Pacific Ocean and its campus and athletic facilities are regularly voted among the nation's most beautiful. Pepperdine, which is affiliated with the Church of Christ, ranks #50 overall on U.S. News and World Report's list of America's best colleges.
