MALIBU, Calif. — Pepperdine University Director of Athletics Tanner Gardner announced today that Ed Schilling will not return as head coach of Pepperdine men's basketball for the 2026-27 season.
"After a holistic review of our men's basketball program, we have determined that it is in the best interest of our institution to make a leadership change," said Gardner.
"Pepperdine Athletics remains committed to our vision of championship athletics rooted in Christian values, academic excellence, and community. Our priority right now is supporting our student-athletes and ensuring they continue to have the resources, stability, and leadership necessary to succeed both on the court and in the classroom."
Schilling recorded a 22-45, 8-28 WCC record in his two-year tenure with the Waves after being hired in April 2024.
A national search for the next Pepperdine men's basketball head coach will begin immediately.
