MALIBU, California – A fall 2020 season delayed to spring 2021 has begun to take shape for the Pepperdine women's soccer team, as the nine-game West Coast Conference schedule was announced today.
The official start date for NCAA women's soccer is February 3, though non-conference matchups have yet to be determined. Just over two weeks later, WCC play will begin on February 20. Schools are slated to play one game a week, all on Saturdays.
The Waves drew five home games – February 20 vs. Santa Clara, March 6 vs. San Francisco, March 27 vs. Loyola Marymount, April 3 vs. San Diego and April 10 vs. BYU. They'll go on the road four times – February 27 at Saint Mary's, March 13 at Pacific, March 20 at Portland and April 17 at Gonzaga.
NCAA selections will take place on April 18, with 48 schools (31 automatic qualifiers and 17 at-large selections) making up the field. The season will conclude with the Women's College Cup from May 13-17.
In 2019, Pepperdine went 11-6-3, finishing third in the WCC while making it to the NCAA Tournament for the 11th time in program history. The Waves return eight starters and 17 letterwinners, including five of the top six goal-scorers and their entire defensive back line.
