MALIBU, California – JT Martin, a middle blocker for the Pepperdine men's volleyball team, recently represented USA Volleyball as part of the U.S. Men's Junior Team that posted a fifth-place finish at the U21 Pan American Cup in Lima, Peru.
Martin (Fort Lauderdale, Fla./Cardinal Gibbons HS) just concluded his freshman year with the Waves, though he did not see any action.
At the U21 Pan American Cup, Martin appeared in four matches and unofficially recorded totals of three kills and three blocks. The U.S. went 1-3 in pool play but won its final two matches, both by scores of 3-2 against host Peru and the Dominican Republic, to claim fifth place.
Martin has multiple years of experience with USA Volleyball, having been part of the U.S. Junior National Training Team in 2018 and the U.S. Boys National Training Team in 2016 and 2017. He was an AVCA All-American and a Volleyball Magazine Fab 50 honoree coming out of high school.
Pepperdine ended the 2019 season with a 23-7 record, a #3 national ranking and a spot in the NCAA Championships semifinals. The Waves won both the MPSF regular-season and tournament titles.
