Four Waves Make MPSF Volleyball All-Academic

MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine men's volleyball team had four starters – Kaleb Denmark, Noah Dyer, Spencer Wickens and David Wieczorek – recognized with Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic honors today.
To qualify for MPSF All-Academic, student-athletes must have a minimum 3.00 cumulative grade-point average, be at least a sophomore academically, have spent a full year at their institution prior to the 2019 season and have participated in at least 50 percent of the season's matches.
Denmark (Redlands, Calif./Arrowhead Christian Academy), a senior outside hitter who is a business administration major, made the All-Academic team for the second time. He earned AVCA All-American honorable mention honors and All-MPSF second team status while ranking third on the team with 2.82 kills per set.
Dyer (San Clemente, Calif./Saddleback Valley Christian HS), a junior libero who is a business administration major, made the All-Academic team for the second time. He averaged 1.60 digs per set, which ranked 10th in the MPSF.
Wickens (Irondequoit, N.Y./McQuaid Jesuit HS), a sophomore libero who is a sport administration major, made the All-Academic team for the first time. He averaged 0.74 digs per set.
Wieczorek (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy), a senior outside hitter who is a sport administration major, made the All-Academic team for the fourth time. He earned AVCA All-American first team honors and repeated as the MPSF Player of the Year. He led the Waves with 3.86 kills per set (second in the MPSF, ninth nationally) and a .371 hitting percentage (fourth in the MPSF, 15th nationally).
Pepperdine ended the 2019 season with a 23-7 record, a #3 national ranking and a spot in the NCAA Championships semifinals. The Waves won both the MPSF regular-season and tournament titles.
