MALIBU, California – The Pepperdine men's volleyball team, winner of both Mountain Pacific Sports Federation regular-season and tournament titles, learned its NCAA postseason path today. The NCAA announced that the Waves will play either Barton or Princeton in the quarterfinals on Tuesday, April 30, in Long Beach.
That match will take place at 7:30 p.m. in Long Beach State's Walter Pyramid. A victory would put Pepperdine into the semifinals and a matchup against the host 49ers on Thursday, May 2, at 7:30 p.m. The final is set for Saturday, May 4, at 5 p.m.
Pepperdine is making its first NCAA Championships appearance in more than a decade. The Waves have won five national championships, second-most of any school.
The Waves (22-6) head into the postseason on a season-high seven-match winning streak. On Saturday night in Firestone Fieldhouse, they swept USC to claim the MPSF Tournament title.
Barton will host Princeton on Thursday, April 25, in the opening-round match. Barton (25-4) won the Conference Carolina championship, while Princeton (17-12) captured the EIVA title. The Waves opened the 2019 season with a 3-1 home win over Princeton.
The other quarterfinal on April 30 has USC playing Lewis, with the winner meeting Hawai'i in a May 2 semifinal.
