MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's tennis team travels to Northern California to take on West Coast Conference foes San Francisco and Santa Clara in the last two regular-season conference matches on Friday and Saturday.
MATCH 22: Friday, April 19 at the California Tennis Club in San Francisco, Calif.: Pepperdine (10-11, 4-3 WCC) vs San Francisco (3-14, 0-7 WCC) at 1 p.m.
MATCH 23: Saturday, April 20 at the Degheri Tennis Center in Santa Clara, Calif.: Pepperdine (10-11, 4-3 WCC) vs Santa Clara (14-6, 4-3 WCC) at 11 a.m.
SERIES VS SAN FRANCISCO: Against the Dons, the Waves stand 21-1 all-time, where the only loss suffered came during the 2017 season in the Bay Area. The Dons are winless in WCC play, as their last win came in early March over Army. In their last outing, the Waves defeated San Francisco 4-0 in Malibu.
SERIES VS SANTA CLARA: The Waves also run 21-1 against the Broncos. Pepperdine will attempt to avenge their only loss to SCU from last season, where the Waves dropped a 4-3 heartbreaker at the Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center. Most recently, the Broncos swept San Francisco 4-0 in Santa Clara.
LAST TIME OUT: Pepperdine split last weekend's games, upsetting No. 38 BYU and dropping a 4-2 decision to No. 28 San Diego. In the upset over the Cougars, freshman
Enrique Luque Rico defeated Sam Tullis 6-2, 6-4 to win the match for the Waves.
The Waves honored seniors
Scotland Garapedian and
Matias Sborowitz during the Sunday match against San Diego, where Sborowitz grabbed a 6-3, 6-3 win, giving him his 10
th win out of 11 matches. Freshman
