MALIBU, Calif. – The Pepperdine men's tennis team got its first match win of the year today, defeating UNLV at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center, 5-2. The victory was also head coach
Adam Schaechterle's first win as head coach of the Waves.

MATCH RECAP
In doubles play, the Waves jumped out to two early 2-0 set leads thanks to the teams of Oetzbach/Zeitvogel and Sborowitz/Rico. Sborowitz and Rico finished first, defeating Jordan Sauer and Olle Thestrup of UNLV 6-2. To clinch the point for the Waves, Oetzbach and Zeitvogel defeated Eric Samuelsson and Clayton Alenik 6-3. Jankowiak and Galvao were locked at 3-3 with Milos Dabic and Richard Solberg when the doubles point was clinched.
In singles play, the Waves again started off hot, with four of six winning first sets. Rico dominated Richard Solberg of UNLV in the second set, not dropping a single game to take the first singles match for the Waves 6-4, 6-0. The next Wave to clinch his match was Sborowitz, who downed Samuelsson from UNLV in two sets, 6-4, 6-3. Zeitvogel clinched the match for the Waves. He won the first set against Jordan Sauer 6-4, but Sauer forced a third, taking the second set 6-2. Zeitvogel dug deep and came out victorious in the final set, defeating Sauer 6-2. In the last match on court, Oetzbach had to go to seven games in each set to defeat Olle Thestrup 7-6, 7-5.

Adam Schaechterle. "We looked confident and we competed at all 3 doubles and all 6 singles spots.
We have a lot of improvement left to reach our goals for the season. But, today was a big moment for our leaders and I'm so happy for them. They have continued to raise the standard for our program every single day, and they deserved this win."
