MALIBU, Calif. — After three matches played last week, the Pepperdine women's volleyball team heads into this week with one lone match scheduled against PCH Cup rival Loyola Marymount on Friday in the Gersten Pavilion.

SQUAD GOALS — Pepperdine has posted an 8-8 record so far this season, while opening West Coast Conference action with a 4-1 record. As a team, the Waves average 13.27 kills/set on a .234 success rate, while adding 12.13 assists/set, 1.70 aces/set, 14.28 digs/set and 2.02 blocks/set.Â

Shannon Scully and
Hannah Frohling lead the squad with 3.33 and 3.10 kills/set respectively. Scully adds 3.23 digs/set, 0.41 blocks/set, 0.26 aces/set and a .250 hitting percentage in a well-rounded effort. Frohling leads the team with 0.41 aces/set and produces 2.05 digs/set, 0.56 blocks/set and a .198 success rate on the attack on average.Â
Rachel Ahrens is also a big attacker for the Waves with 2.60 kills/set on a .211 clip, along with 0.37 aces/set, 0.65 digs/set and 0.63 blocks/set.

Tarah Wylie and
Alli O'Harra lead at the net with 1.00 and 0.77 blocks/set respectively. Wylie produces a team-high .329 hitting percentage with 2.39 kills/set, and adds 0.30 aces/set and 0.53 digs/set for the team. O'Harra is good for 1.56 kills/set on a .230 output as well.

Isabel Zelaya and
Tayah Mahi share time in playmaking duties with 9.11 and 8.58 assists/set respectively. Zelaya is also strong with 1.85 digs/set and 0.40 blocks/set, while Mahi adds 0.21 aces/set, 1.58 digs/set and 0.21 blocks/set.Â
Hana Lishman and
Madison Shields are strong in the back row for Pepperdine. Lishman leads the Waves with 3.64 digs/set, while adding 0.24 aces/set and 0.77 assists/set. Shields amasses 1.78 digs/set as well.

LAST WEEK, TODAY — The Waves had three matches on the docket last week, first falling to San Diego in a five-set thriller on the road before returning home to handle Portland in four sets and Gonzaga by way of sweep. Against San Diego, the Waves posted a season-high 17.0 blocks in the match, led by
Tarah Wylie with nine,
Rachel Ahrens with six and
Hannah Frohling and
Alli O'Harra with five apiece.Â
Shannon Scully impressed with a 18 kill-24 dig double-double, while
Hannah Frohling posted a 10 kill-20 dig double-double.Â
Tarah Wylie marked a team-high 19 kills on a .368 output, while Ahrens added 11 kills as well. Â
Hana Lishman and
Madison Shields added 16 and 13 digs as well.

In the win over the Pilots, the team produced 53 kills on a .238 success rate, along with 12.0 team blocks and seven aces. Wylie once again led with eight blocks including one solo rejection, and added nine kills. Scully had a team-best 20 kills on a .308 clip, while adding 18 digs for another double-double, and Frohling put up 11 kills. Lishman also added 17 digs in the effort for the Waves.

In the final matchup against Gonzaga, the Waves came out strong and ready to play, posting 43 kills on a .232 output, with nien aces, 41 digs and 5.0 team blocks throughout. Frohling, Scully and Wylie each had double-figure kills with Frohling posting 16 smashes on a .438 clip and Scully and Frohling adding 10 kills apiece. Wylie added five blocks with one solo rejection and Scully was good for eight digs. Shields led the team effort with 12 digs and
Tayah Mahi had a team-high 33 assists for the win. Lishman posted three aces, wile each
Rachel Ahrens and Frohling had two as well.

THE COMPETITION — The Lions have gone 10-7 overall this season, with a 4-1 West Coast Conference output. Last week, LMU took #9 BYU to five sets, but eventually lost, before sweeping both Gonzaga and Portland at home to close the weekend.Â

All-time, the Waves have gone 56-24 against the Lions, dating back to 1976 when the Waves first swept the Lions. Pepperdine has posted a seven-match winning streak from 1984-86, a 10-match winning streak from 1987-91 and a 12-match streak from 2006-12 throughout the years. Last season, the Waves took both wins by way of sweep.
