PEPPERDINE 2019: Played in two matches before a season-ending injury put her on the sidelines … Posted four kills on a .300 success rate in five sets of action.
PEPPERDINE 2018: Played in five matches and eight total sets in her redshirt-sophomore season … Amassed two kills, one dig and one block.
PEPPERDINE 2017: Played in 14 matches and 24 sets as a redshirt-freshman … Totaled seven kills and six blocks.
PEPPERDINE 2016: Redshirted during the 2016 season.
CLUB: Played for Invasion Volleyball Club from 2012 through 2016 … The team finished third in the Junior Nationals open division in 2015 and 10th in 2016 after dropping to the eventual champions … The team finished 13th in 2014 … She posted the third highest kill and attack percentage behind two top-10 recruits in the 2016 graduating class (Audriana Fitzmorris – Stanford; Lexi Hart – Minnesota) … The club won the Show Me Qualifier open level in 2014 and 2015 and finished 2nd in 2016 … They won the Big D Qualifer open level in 2016 and finished 5th at JVA World Championships open level in 2016 … The team also won the Mid East Qualifier at the open level in 2015 and finished second in 2014 and won the Northern Lights Qualifier open level in 2014.
HIGH SCHOOL: Graduated from Lee’s Summit West High School in Lee’s Summit, Mo. in 2016 … Lettered four years at LSWHS in the Kansas City Suburban Conference Gold Division under Head Coach Lori Hanaway … During those four years, the team went 98-39-5 overall … Earned All-Region and All-District first team honors and garnered All-KCSC Gold Division second team honors throughout her career … As a senior, she was named a PrepVolleyball Senior Ace, a PrepVolleyball Preseason All-American and was on the UnderArmour All-American Watch List … Lee’s Summit West garnered three Suburban Conference titles and three 6A District Championships from 2012-14 and were a State 6A runner-up in 2012 during her freshman outing … She also lettered in track and field and was a member of the state qualigying 4x800 relay team … On the academic side, she was a member of the National Honor Society, earned three academic letters and earned an International Baccalaureate Program certificate.
PERSONAL: Daughter of Mark and Megan Akason … Has two younger siblings, Lauren and William … Plans to major in Sports Medicine with a focus in Pre-Health at Pepperdine … Her father played football for Hall of Fame Coach Hayden Fry at the University of Iowa and her mother was a Big Ten multi-sport letterwinner at the University of Iowa in cross country and indoor/outdoor track and field … Stated that she chose to attend Pepperdine “for the academic excellence, rich volleyball history and the opportunity to play for Scott Wong and his staff…after researching its mission and academics, I realized it is my dream school” … She also plays violin and piano and has sung solos at school productions … She has also modeled in New York, Kansas City, Los Angeles and Chicago since 14.
