Piskorz garners Defensive Player of the Week, Dvornikova collects Freshman of the Week
SAN BRUNO, Calif. - A pair of wins for the Pepperdine women's volleyball team helped Ella Piskorz earn WCC Defensive Player of the Week, and Mariia Nikol Dvornikova garnered her first collegiate award with the WCC Freshman of the Week honor.
Â
Dvornikova's award marks the fourth time since 2024 that Pepperdine has had a Freshman of the Week (Chloe Pravednikov and Piskorz in 2024, Tristen Raymond in 2025).
Â
It's Piskorz's sixth such DPOTW award, having collected one in 2024 and three more last season. The junior totaled 11 blocks (9 at Denver and 2 at San Diego) to reach 100 on the season, which slots first in the conference and fourth in the country. She has 383 blocks for her career, which ranks sixth in program history. A native of Mississauga, Ontario, Canada, Piskorz was also efficient on the offensive end, totaling 15 kills on 27 attacks, averaging a .451 hitting percentage between the two matches.
Â
Pepperdine is back on the hardwood this week Saturday, October 17 at LMU. The Waves' next home match is Thursday, October 22nd versus San Francisco. Fans can click here to purchase tickets to all home matches.

Dvornikova, a late addition to the roster back in early August, has burst onto the scene recently. The Moscow, Russia native averaged nearly five points per set in the two victories last week. Despite ranking in the mid-thirties in the WCC in sets played, she's near the top-20 in kills with 121. Dvornikova blasted 28 kills just last weekend (nearly as much as the previous four matches), 14 each against Denver and San Diego, while averaging a .351 hitting percentage. The Waves family is so BIG! Huge thanks to the Walton family for welcoming us into their home while on the road this past weekend! #MakeWaves | @pepperdinewaves https://t.co/p5fo1dzBA9
