Women's Soccer Hosts Gonzaga on Saturday

MALIBU, California — The Pepperdine women's soccer team continues West Coast Conference play this Saturday with a contest against Gonzaga.
Gonzaga received a vote in this week's United Soccer Coaches poll, making this the eighth time in 14 games that the Waves are taking on an opponent either ranked or receiving votes.
MATCH #14 — Saturday (October 19) at Tari Frahm Rokus Field in Malibu, California: Pepperdine (6-5-2, 2-1-0) vs. Gonzaga (9-3-1, 2-0-1) at 1 p.m.

OPPONENT — Pepperdine is 18-5-3 all-time against Gonzaga. The Waves are unbeaten in the last eight matchups (6-0-2). The schools played to a scoreless draw in Spokane last year. The Waves are 11-2 in Malibu with six straight wins. Gonzaga's last victory in the series came in 2010, and their last win in Malibu was in 2005. The Bulldogs began WCC play with wins over San Diego and Portland and then played to a 3-3 tie with San Francisco this past weekend.
LAST GAME — Trinity Watson scored on a fantastic 30-yard shot in the 105th minute, and her golden goal gave Pepperdine a 1-0 victory on the road against PCH Cup rival Loyola Marymount on Sunday. The Waves outshot the Lions 19-8 and had numerous scoring chances in regulation, but Watson finally ended it with her solo effort, in which she hit a laser into the upper-left-hand corner of the net.
NOTABLE — The next win will be the 300th in program history ... The win over Portland was the 250th in Tim Ward's career ... Hailey Stenberg and Shelby Little are tied with for the team high with three goals apiece while Leyla McFarland, Trinity Watson and Brie Welch have both scored twice ... McFarland leads with four assists (tied for seventh in the WCC) and eight points ... Kinsey Ehmann is first in the WCC in shutouts per game (0.40), fourth in saves per game (3.90) and third in goals-against average (1.26) ... The Waves' defense is third in the WCC in shutouts (six) and fifth in goals-against average (1.18). At the other end of the field, they're sixth in scoring at 1.31 goals per game ... Pepperdine played one of the toughest non-conference schedules in the country. The combined win-loss record of their non-conference opponents in 2018 was 120-62-20 (.643), and five of them won matches in the 2018 NCAA Tournament. Five of the 10 opponents were nationally ranked at the time of the game, and another was receiving votes.
TICKETS — Single-game tickets at Tari Frahm Rokus Field cost $10 each for adults and $8 each for children under 12, seniors 65+ and alumni/Crest members. Students, faculty and staff are free with an ID. Groups of 10 or more can purchase tickets for $5 each.
