Women's Tennis Heads South for ITA Southwest Regional

MALIBU, Calif. – Three members of the Pepperdine women's tennis team will head to San Diego this weekend for the ITA Southwest Regional Championships. Daria Kuczer, Anastasia Iamachkine and Lisa Zaar are set to begin on Thursday, October 17 to Sunday, October 20 at USD.
The tournament is one of 12 sites chosen for each region and serves as a qualifier for the Oracle/ITA National Fall Championships as finalists from each region will make the fall championship bracket.
MAKING WAVES
Sophomores Daria Kuczer, Anastasia Iamachkine and freshman Lisa Zaar will take to the courts this weekend. Iamachkine saw action in last week's Women's Collegiate invitational, where she defeated Cal's #24 Julia Rosenqvist in three sets (7-5, 5-7, 6-4) and Giulia Pairone of Michigan (6-0, 7-5).
Zaar was crowned the Women's Collegiate Invitational Blue Draw's champion, where she squashed the likes of several powerhouse programs including Sophia Patel (UNC), Nandini Das (FSU) and Annette Goulak (UCLA).
Kuczer's last outing came in September, where she competed in the Battle in the Bay classic in San Francisco. There, she had successful wins over Wake Forest's Chandler Cart and Sydney Van Alphen of USC before dipping to Anna Campana, also of Wake Forest.
