
Waves Dominate Idaho to Advance to NCAA Second Round

MALIBU, Calif. -- In a rainy and overcast Friday afternoon at Ralphs-Straus Tennis Center, the #12 Pepperdine women's tennis team dominated Idaho 4-0 to advance through the NCAA Tournament first round.
The Waves (23-2) crashed through doubles action with quick wins on courts one and two over the Vandals (15-7), and were untouchable in singles as Mayar Sherif, Laura Gulbe and Evgeniya Levashova won in straight sets on courts three, five and four respectively.
Pepperdine will face off with #18 Kansas at noon tomorrow in Malibu for the second round.

With the advantage heading into singles, the Waves used the momentum to secure big leads and all six first set points. #22 Sherif finished first on court three after posting a 6-1, 6-0 win over Laura Spataro. #91 Laura Gulbe then put the Waves in a position to clinch as she downed Maggie Chen in the #5 position with a 6-2, 6-0 win.
#54 Levashova would do the honors, defeating Shion Watabe 6-0, 6-1 on court four for the clinch .
