Women’s Tennis Completes First Fall Action at ITA All-American Championships

CARY, N.C. — Pepperdine women's tennis wrapped up its time at the Intercollegiate Tennis Association (TIA) All-American Championships in Cary, N.C. to begin the fall season.
Anastasiia Grechkina earned three singles on the week along with a doubles victory alongside Chantal Sauvant to highlight Pepperdine's run. Grechkina advanced to the consolation round of 16 in singles while her and Sauvant reached the consolation quarterfinals in doubles.
Grechkina earned an opening round win in the singles main draw at All-Americans, defeating No. 56 Julia Zhu of Kentucky in three sets. After falling in the round of 32 Thursday, Grechkina rebounded with a three-set win over No. 58 Liv Hovde in the consolation round of 32. She went on to earn a win over No. 2 Carmen Herea of Texas in a consolation round of 16 qualifier.
On the doubles side, Grechkina and Sauvant were defeated in the main draw opening round before collecting a top-15 victory over UNC in the consolation bracket, defeating Tatum Evans and Nicole Khirin in a third set tiebreak. The Waves eventually lost in a third set tiebreak in the quarterfinals.
Sauvant fell in the singles qualifying opening round and earned a three-set win over Vanderbilt's Sophia Webster in her consolation tilt. Živa Falkner also contested the singles main draw, falling in the opening round.
Pepperdine's next opportunity to earn automatic berths into the NCAA Singles & Doubles Championships will come at the ITA Southwest Regionals, set for Oct. 15-20 in San Diego, Calif.

The Waves will return next week sending athletes to the Battle in the Bay Classic from Oct. 1-4 in San Francisco, along with ITF W100 Templeton in Templeton, Calif. Grechkina is the reigning singles champion at the Battle in the Bay as she also collected the doubles title with Alexia Harmon in 2025.

Pepperdine women's tennis has been a consistent powerhouse in the collegiate scene, reaching 41 NCAA Tournaments since 1982 including 29 straight appearances. Since 2018, the program has seen three national runner-ups between both singles and doubles while reaching an NCAA Super Regional as a team nine times in the past ten tournaments. The success at the conference level has been paramount with 34 WCC Championships including an active streak of 12 consecutive conference titles. With its 24 total All-Americans, the program has also consistently sent players to the pro circuit following their time in Malibu.
