MALIBU, Calif. -- The top-ranked Pepperdine beach volleyball team was unstoppable at Zuma Beach on Saturday, collecting three wins over ranked opponents including 5-0 sweeps over #16 Loyola Marymount and #19 Saint Mary's and a 4-1 win over #4 USC to win the Pepperdine Invitational presented by University Credit Union.
The Waves advanced the season's record to 18-3 overall and remain undefeated when playing at Zuma Beach with a 6-0 record this season.

The Waves swept through the first two opponents, taking down #16 Loyola Marymount and #19 Saint Mary's with 5-0 results. In the first match,
Corinne Quiggle and
Deahna Kraft clinched the overall win after putting up a 21-10, 19-21, 15-9 win over Savannah Slattery and McKayla Ferris in the No. 1 position. In the second,
Maddie Dilfer and
Nikki Lyons earned the clinch with a 21-16, 21-9 win over Jennifer Laird and Madi Wilkerson on court five.
In the toughest match of the day for Pepperdine, the top-ranked Waves triumphed over #4 USC. Heidi Dyer and Gigi Hernandez opened the game with a dominating 21-13, 21-19 win over Joy Dennis and Haley Hallgren on court three. Then, Dilfer and Lyons picked up their third win of the day with a 21-15, 26-24 result over Jenna Belton and Jo Kremer on court five.
Skylar Caputo and Alexis Filippone would be the clinching match, as the pair downed Alexandra Poletto and Katrina Kernochon 21-18, 21-17 in the No. 4 position. With the top two matches still being played out, Madalyn Roh and Brook Bauer finished first, collecting an impressive 31-29, 21-19 win over Terese Cannon and Sammy Slater in the No. 2 position to put the team ahead by four. The Trojans would not roll over completely, however, as the top-USC pair downed the Waves in a tough three set battle seeing 21-16, 20-22, 17-15 marks throughout.
