MALIBU, California " Kameron Edwards scored 22 points and the Pepperdine men's basketball team sent its seniors and head coach Marty Wilson out with a victory in the home and regular-season finale on Saturday night as the Waves defeated Portland, 75-64, in West Coast Conference play.
The Waves (5-25, 2-16) played their best half of the year, holding the Pilots (10-21, 4-14) without a point for the first 8 1/2 minutes and eventually going into the break with a 42-17 lead.

- Sophomore forward Kameron Edwards (Rancho Cucamonga, Calif./Etiwanda HS) had his most points in a WCC game this season and his most since missing nine midseason games with a concussion. He made a career-high three three-pointers and added nine rebounds.
- Junior forward Darnell Dunn (Kinston, N.C./Kinston HS/Miami Dade JC) posted the first double-double of his career with 13 points and a career-high 10 rebounds off the bench.
- Freshman guard Trae Berhow (Watertown, Minn./Watertown-Mayer HS) contributed 14 points and five rebounds.
- Sophomore guard Knox Hellums (Tomball, Texas/Concordia Lutheran HS) added 10 points off the bench.
- Freshman guard Colbey Ross (Aurora, Colo./Eaglecrest HS) added eight assists to his freshman record total, and with 171, he's now up to #6 on the Waves' overall single-season list.

- In the first half, the Waves held Portland to 26.1% shooting while forcing 11 turnovers. Portland finished at 42.0% for the game and with 17 turnovers.
- Pepperdine shot 42.9% for the game and made 14 turnovers.
- Both teams made eight three-pointers (the Waves had six in the first half).
- Pepperdine had a 42-29 rebounding edge, including 13-3 on the offensive end, and had a 14-0 advantage in second-chance points.

The Waves got off to a dream start defensively, making Portland go 0-for-7 with six turnovers in the first 8 1/2 minutes. Edwards scored nine points as the Waves got out to an 11-0 lead. At 25-12, Dunn scored seven points in another 11-0 run, pushing Pepperdine's advantage to 36-12 with 2:20 left. A three-pointer by Edwards gave the Waves their largest lead at 27 points at 42-15, and it was 42-17 at halftime.
Portland would make things interesting in the second half, however. The Pilots began the half on a 10-2 run to make it 44-27. A 16-2 run got the deficit all the way down to single-digits at nine points at 55-46 with 8:15 to play. Edwards sank a three-pointer on the Waves' next possession, however, and the lead would stay in double-figures the rest of the way.

- In a pregame ceremony, the Waves honored three players making their final Firestone Fieldhouse appearance: fifth-year point guard Amadi Udenyi, second-year player and first-year law school student Kevin Hempy and graduate transfer Matthew Atewe. This was also the final home game for head coach Marty Wilson, as it was announced on February 13 that he will not be returning next season.
- Pepperdine Hall of Fame broadcaster Al Epstein was also honored pregame after having called his 1,000th consecutive game for the Waves on Thursday night at Saint Mary's.
- Three scholarship players were unavailable tonight: Eric Cooper Jr. (shoulder), Harrison Meads (concussion) and Nolan Taylor (season-ending shoulder surgery).This was the 23rd time in 30 games that the Waves have had multiple key rotation players out.
- Pepperdine beat Portland for the seventh time in the last eight meetings in Firestone Fieldhouse.
