2019 Men's Volleyball Schedule Released

MALIBU, Calif. – The 2019 Pepperdine men's volleyball schedule was released by Head Coach David Hunt on Wednesday afternoon, with strong competition on the docket for the upcoming season.
Of the 26 matches scheduled, 12 will be played in Firestone Fieldhouse, including the season-opener against Princeton on December 30. Throughout the season, the Waves have filtered in 14 tough non-conference matches with six to be played in Malibu.
"A challenging non-conference schedule is to our advantage," said Hunt. "We will be tested several times, especially on the road, to make sure that we are ready come MPSF Tournament time. There is no better opportunity to learn about ourselves than on the court against good teams."
The Waves will play six matches against three teams that entered the six-team NCAA Championships last season, including runner-up UCLA – a team also in the MPSF. Along with UCLA, the other two teams are BYU, the 2016 and 2017 NCAA runner-up, and UC Irvine.
Pepperdine has three home matches scheduled for January, against UC San Diego (1/4), UC Santa Barbara (1/11) and CSUN (1/30).
The Waves continue with two home games in February, opening MPSF action against BYU (2/6) and Stanford (2/8). Other home matches include George Mason (3/12), UC Irvine (3/23), UCLA (3/27), Grand Canyon (3/29), USC (4/4) and Concordia, Irvine (4/6).
There will be two big road trips for Pepperdine, first a two-match stand in Chicago and Romeoville, Ill. against Loyola Chicago and Lewis. The second trip will be in Manoa, Hawai'i at the Outrigger Invitational against Ball State, King University and tournament-host Hawai'i.
The MPSF Tournament will begin on April 13 with the quarterfinals at top 2-4 seeded host sites, and continue with the semifinals and finals on April 18 and 20 with the #1-seed serving as host.
