
Pepperdine Falls on the Road to Gonzaga, 73-51

SPOKANE, Wash. " The Pepperdine women's basketball team fell on the road for the first time in West Coast Conference Play on Thursday, dropping a 73-51 decision to Gonzaga in what was a battle of two of the three remaining undefeated teams in WCC action.
The Waves fall to 6-7 overall, 2-1 WCC, while Gonzaga improves to 10-4 overall, 3-0 WCC. Pepperdine hung close through the first half, but the defending conference champion Bulldogs pulled away in the final two periods.

The Waves played close with the Bulldogs through the first two quarters, going into the halftime break down 34-28. Pepperdine was down by as much as seven in the first quarter, but Monique Andriuolo hit a three and Rose Pflug got a layup to cut it back to a two-point game. The Bulldogs went up by as much as 10 in the second quarter, but a late three by Feckse cut it back to a six-point game.
Gonzaga opened the second half on a 10-0 run to build a 44-28 lead early in the third quarter. The Waves would cut it back to a 10-point game once, but the Zags led 52-40 heading to the fourth. The home team pulled away from there, going up by as much as 24 in the final period.

Pepperdine stays on the road this weekend, heading to San Francisco on Saturday for a 2 p.m. WCC contest. The Waves then host BYU and travel to Saint Mary's next week.
