
Wieczorek Garners All-MPSF First Team Honors

MALIBU, Calif.: - Outside hitter David Wieczorek, of the 8th-ranked Pepperdine men's volleyball team, garnered his second career MPSF honor with a first team nod, as released by the conference office on Thursday afternoon. Along with Wieczorek's first team recognition, outside hitter Noah Dyer tabbed an MPSF All-Freshman accolade.
Redshirt-sophomore Wieczorek (Chicago, Ill./Loyola Academy), is a two-year All-MPSF honoree with his first team nod. He earned second-team recognition in the 2016 season as well as a spot on the MPSF All-Freshman team, MPSF All-Academic team as was voted OffTheBlock/Springbak, INc. Fan Choice National Player of the Year last season.
Wieczorek has been instrumental to the Waves' success this season, leading the Waves in kills in 14-matches, hitting percentage in 13-matches, aces in six-matches, digs in two-matches and blocks on one occasion. In the Waves 21-matches played this season, he has played in all of them and started 19, amassing one double-double this season with 18-kills and 10-blocks at USC on February 18. He has marked 17-matches with double-figure kills this season for the Waves, with a career-total of 30 matches with double-figure kills. He tabbed his career-best attack performance on April 8 with 28-smashes on a .591 success rate at 5th-ranked UC Irvine. This season, Wieczorek leads the team with 3.89 kills/set on a .361 attack output, adding 17 aces for 0.21 aces/set, 84 digs for 1.02 digs/set and 50 blocks including three solo stuffs for 0.61 blocks/set.
Dyer earns his first-career postseason honor after garnering MPSF All-Freshman team status. He led the Waves in kills, aces and blocks on two separate occasions and led the squad in digs once. He posted seven matches with double-figure kills this season, including his career-high attack output at Loyola Chicago with 16 kills. He posted his career-best .360 hitting percentage with 10 kills and one error on 25 swings at 5th-ranked UC Irvine on April 8 and amassed a career-high five blocks twice, with the last occurring at UC Santa Barbara on February 8. This season, Dyer posted 1.76 kills/set on a .225 hitting percentage, adding 0.99 digs/set with 74 total digs and 0.45 blocks/set with 34 total blocks including one solo rejection.
