
No. 2 Ohio State Puts No. 9 Waves Under

RESULTSTEMPE, Ariz.: The 9th-ranked Pepperdine women's tennis team was downed today by 2nd-ranked Ohio State, falling 6-1 at the Whiteman Tennis Center. After dropping the doubles point, the Waves went 1-5 against the opposition in singles to close out the Arizona State Invitational.
In doubles, sophomore Luisa Stefani and freshman Ashley Lahey highlighted the opening rounds with a stunning 6-1 win over 47th-ranked Sandy Niehaus and Anna Sanford. Unfortunately, OSU picked up wins on courts one and three to pull ahead heading into singles.
In singles, the Waves faced six nationally ranked players, including top-ranked Francesca Di Lorenzo. The Waves 25th-ranked Lahey was solid in the No. 2-slot, putting down 53rd-ranked Sanford with a pair fo 6-4 sets to put Pepperdine on the board. The opposition posted victories on courts one and three through five to secure the 6-1 victory.
