MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine women's soccer coaching staff, led by head coach Tim Ward, was named the West Region Staff of the Year by the United Soccer Coaches for the second straight season.
Ward was assisted by associate head coach Max Rooke, assistant coach Ariana Martinez, volunteer assistant Ryann Torrero, athletic trainer Tamesha Jefferson and strength and conditioning coach Bri Holder this season.
The group helped lead the Waves to several unprecedented feats this year, including the program's first back-to-back West Coast Conference titles, first outright WCC title and records for shutouts and goals-against average. Pepperdine made it to the second round of the NCAA Postseason for the third time in four years this season as well.
The Waves finished the year 15-3-3, climbing as high as No. 11 in the national rankings, which is where the team sat at the end of the regular season. Pepperdine started the season unranked in all major polls.
Ward wrapped up his 20th year at the helm for the Waves this season and was named the WCC Coach of the Year for the fifth time in his career. This is also the fifth regional award for Ward and staff during his tenure.
The other regional staffs of the year were; Duke (East), Ohio State (Midwest), Oklahoma State (South) and South Carolina (Southeast). Pepperdine and South Carolina were the only two repeat staffs on the list from last year.
