Nov. 16, 2017 COSIDA ACADEMIC ALL-DISTRICT TEAMS
MALIBU, Calif. — Sophomore Hannah Frohling garnered CoSIDA Academic All-District first team honors, as announced by the College Sports Information Directors of America on Thursday morning.
Frohling, originally from Edmond, Okla., currently has a 3.897 grade point average while studying Sports Medicine. She was one of seven individuals from District 8 to earn the accolade, along with fellow West Coast Conference competitor's Kristen Gengenbacher (San Diego) and Kirsten Mead (Santa Clara).
She was a Pepperdine Scholar-Athlete and earned WCC Commissioner's Honor Roll ‘gold' honors in 2016. This season, Frohling currently ranks nationally in seven statistical categories including 51st in both points and attacks and 59th in total kills. She has led the Waves in kills 15 times, hitting percentage five times, aces 10 times and digs once. This season, she has amassed 13 double-doubles (14 career) in digs and kills, double-figure kills in 23 matches (38 career), double-figure digs in 15 matches (16 career) and over 20 kills once (two career).
In 110 sets played and 29 matches started this season, Frohling has amassed 3.66 kills/set on a .208 success rate, along with 0.30 aces/est, 2.55 digs/set and 0.44 blocks/set. She's marked 403 kills with only 163 errors on 1,153 attempts, while tabbing a team-high 33 aces, as well as 281 digs and 48 blocks with four solos.
The CoSIDA Academic All-District teams recognize the nation's top student-athletes for their combined performances athletically and in the classroom. First team honorees advance to the CoSIDA Academic All-America Team ballot where first-, second- and third-team All-America honorees will be announced in December.
This week, the Waves will return home for their last home match of the 2017-18 season against PCH Cup rivals Loyola Marymount. The match will start at noon on November 18 and senior day will occur prior to the match. It will stream live on TheW.tv.
