Men's Golf Playing Well Again in Arizona

SCOTTSDALE, Ariz. " The Pepperdine men's golf team continues to play well and is in third place after Saturday's first two rounds of the Desert Mountain Intercollegiate with a team score of 7-under.
The Waves shot a total of 569 (286-283) at the par-72 Outlaw Course at Desert Mountain. They are seven shots behind host Michigan and five back of Texas A&M.
Freshman Roy Cootes (Rolling Hills, Calif./Palos Verdes HS) is tied for third place with a 3-under 141 (73-68). He had four birdies in the first round, and six more in the second round.
Playing as an individual, freshman Lorenzo Magagnin (Treviso, Italy) is also tied for third with a 3-under 141 (68-73). His first-round 4-under included four birdies and an eagle, and he had three more birdies in the afternoon.
Junior Cody McManus (Phoenix, Ariz./Desert Vista HS) is tied for eighth place with a 2-under 142 (71-71). His two rounds had a total of five birdies and one eagle.
Senior Frederick Wedel (The Woodlands, Texas/The Woodlands HS) and freshman Sahith Theegala (Chino Hills, Calif./Diamond Bar HS) are both tied for 23rd with 1-over 145s. Wedel went 70-75 with eight birdies and Theegala went 76-69 with eight of his nine birdies coming in the afternoon.
Junior Robbie Geibel (Pembroke Pines, Fla./American Heritage HS/Louisville) is tied for 44th at 150 (72-78). He had a total of six birdies.
The third and final round is Sunday and the Waves will be paired with Michigan and Texas A&M, and the groups will begin at 9:15 a.m. MT.
