Men's Volleyball Releases 2017 Schedule

2017 SCHEDULE
MALIBU, Calif. - The Pepperdine men's volleyball squad, with Head Coach Marv Dunphy at the helm, released the 2017 schedule of competition this Thursday afternoon. The Waves will have 23 total matches on the docket, including 12 home matches and 11 away matches.
Of the 23 matches, 12 will be played against teams that finished in the AVCA Coaches Poll top 15. Big competition will include No. 2 BYU, No. 3 UCLA, No. 4 Long Beach State, No. 5 UC Santa Barbara, No. 6 Stanford, No. 8 Hawai'i, No. 9 Lewis, No. 10 Loyola-Chicago and No. 14 CSUN. Pepperdine finished the 2016 campaign ranked No. 7 in the coaches poll.
The team will open the season on January 4 by hosting McKendree, a NCAA Division II school from Lebanon, Ill. at 7 p.m. in Firestone Fieldhouse. The opening week will continue with a pair of exhibition matches against McMaster, of Ontario, Canada, on January 5 and 6.
Then in the following week on January 13 and 14, the Waves will head to the Midwest to challenge Loyola in Chicago, Ill. and Lewis in Romeoville, Ill. before opening Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play in Malibu.
Pepperdine is set to open MPSF action with a three-match home stint from January 20 to 28, hosting Stanford, Cal Baptist and USC. After the home competition, the team will take a short road trip Long Beach State on February 3, before returning home on February 8 and 11 to host UC Santa Barbara and UCLA. Then, the Waves will hit the road once again to challenge Cal Baptist and USC before hopping on a plane and travelling to Honolulu to challenge Hawai'i.
On March 10 and 11, the Waves will host more big competition with 2016 NCAA Championship runner-up BYU, before traveling to both Cal State Northridge and Stanford on March 15 and 18. The final two home matches of the season will be against UC Irvine and UC San Diego on March 25 and 30, both of which will be at 7 p.m. The team will close out the regular season on April 7 and 8 with short road trips to UC San Diego and UC Irvine before heading into the MPSF Tournament.
The MPSF Tournament will take place between April 15 and 22, with the quarterfinal match-up opening play on April 15.
