OMAHA, Neb. - After falling 3-1 to Wichita State on Saturday morning, the Pepperdine women's volleyball team turned in a dominant performance against Bowling Green to end the Bluejay Invitational on a high note. The Waves could not be stopped and beat the Falcons by set scores of 25-15, 25-14, 25-15.

With three tournaments in the books, Pepperdine is now 4-5 in 2014.

Becca Strehlow (Long Beach, Calif./Woodrow Wilson HS) made her third-straight appearance on the all-tournament team. The junior averaged 6.91 assists, 3.64 digs, 2.00 kills and 0.73 blocks this weekend to earn the recognition. She was previously voted to the all-tournament squads at the Pepperdine Asics Classic and the UC Irvine Tournament.

Jillian Bergeson (Friendswood, Texas/Friendswood HS) starred for the Waves in the morning match versus the Shockers, pacing the floor with 16 kills. She added 10 digs for her fifth double-double of the season.

Although Pepperdine edged WSU 59-58 in kills, the Shockers kept the attack errors to a minimum to maintain control of the match. The formidable opponent won by set scores of 22-25, 25-19, 25-20, 25-22 to improve to 6-3 on the season, and a perfect 2-0 at the tournament.

Strehlow turned in 24 assists and a season-high 20 digs. Equally impressive was Samantha Cash (San Diego, Calif./Canyon Crest Academy), who charted 12 kills while hitting .688 (12 kills-1 error-16 attempts).

Freshman Allie Loitz (Bonita, Calif./Bonita Vista HS) had a breakout performance in the Waves' follow-up match versus Bowling Green (2-7). In her first start in the front row, Loitz pounded down 10 kills to lead Pepperdine. Even more impressive, the rookie did not commit a single attack error in her 17 attempts, good enough for a .588 clip.

Gaby Palmeri (Davis, Calif./St. Francis HS) matched Loitz's 10 kills to go along with her 14 put aways against Wichita State. The sophomore outside hitter produced a team-high weekend kills average of 3.64.

Pepperdine was in firm control of the match against the Falcons from start to finish and never trailed. As a team, the Waves registered a .354 (44-10-96) hitting percentage while limiting Bowling Green to just a .140 (29-16-93) clip.

Bergeson and Katie Lespier (Huntington Beach, Calif./Huntington Beach HS) protected the back court with 12 digs each.

The Waves now prepare for their final tournament, the Residence Inn Invitational hosted by Arizona State on Sept. 19-20, before opening West Coast Conference action at the end of the month.
