MALIBU, Calif. - The National Soccer Coaches Association of America released its All-Region teams today and after making a run into the Sweet 16 at the NCAA Tournament, five Pepperdine women's soccer players earned West Region honors.
Hailey Harbison, Ally Holtz and Lynn Williams were all named to the first team while Meagan Harbison was named to the second team and Hannah Seabert took home third team honors. Five players earning the honor matches the most in Pepperdine history and the three first-team selections is a first for the Waves.
Senior forward Williams (Fresno, Calif./Bullard HS) led the Waves offensively this season scoring a team-best 14 goals and posting 10 assists. Her 14 scores are tied for the second most in Pepperdine history and her 10 helpers matched a Pepperdine single-season record. Williams also matched a Pepperdine record with five game-winning goals and set a single-season record with 130 shots. She was named WCC Player of the Week three times and took home her third All-WCC first team honor this year. Williams has earned NSCAA All-West Region honors each of her four seasons at Pepperdine, snagging her third-straight first-team award this season.
Holtz (Honolulu, Hawaii/Punahou School) picks up her first All-Region honor with the first-team selection after setting the tempo for the Waves in the midfield all season. Holtz was second on the team and third in the conference this year with eight assists, while also tallying one score. The senior midfielder was named to the All-WCC first team as well this year. Holtz finishes her career 13th on the Pepperdine all-time assist list with 15 helpers and has played in a total of 82 games over her career.
Hailey Harbison (Rancho Penasquitos, Calif./Westview HS) is the lone freshman on the All-West Region first team, earning the honor for her play on the Waves' defensive back line. As an outside back for most of the year, Harbison helped anchor a Pepperdine defense that led the conference with 11 shutouts and a 0.65 goals against average. Harbison also set herself apart with her attacking prowess out of the back, scoring a goal this year and assisting on two more. She started all 23 games this season for the Waves en route to WCC Freshman of the Year honors.
As a defensive midfielder for much of the season, Meagan Harbison (Rancho Penasquitos, Calif./Westview HS) also helped anchor the Waves' stellar defensive unit. The sophomore midfielder started all 23 games for the Waves this season, posting two goals and two assists. Harbison burst out of the gates early, setting up her sister, Hailey, for a score and then getting one of her own for the game-winner in the team's season opener.
Seabert (Riverside, Calif./Woodcrest Christian HS), the Waves' sophomore goalkeeper, picked up third team honors after allowing just 16 goals all season. Seabert started all 23 games for Pepperdine, making 80 saves on the year. She had her most impressive game in the NCAA Tournament against top-ranked UCLA, making five highlight-reel saves as the Waves took the Bruins down to the wire. In just two seasons at Pepperdine, Seabert is fifth on the career saves list with 194 stops.
The Waves led all programs with five All-West Region selections and were the only team with three players on the first team. The five selections matches the 2011 squad's total. Pepperdine finished the season 16-3-4, making the NCAA Tournament for the eighth time in program history and the Sweet 16 for the third time. The team will bring back three All-Region selections and five All-WCC players next season.
