MALIBU, Calif. - The #9 Pepperdine men's volleyball team fell to #5 Stanford 3-0 (25-14, 25-18, 25-19), Saturday in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation action at Firestone Fieldhouse. The Waves fall to 5-6 and 3-6 in league play, while the Cardinal improves to 10-4 and 7-4 in conference contests.

The Waves improved their offensive output in the second game, with 12 kills including a 6-for-7 effort from Cory Riecks (Auburn, Calif./Placer HS). The Cardinal continued to swing well at the net, however, and put a 25-18 win away behind a .429 attack percentage.
Pepperdine tagged down 10 kills in the third set, earned on a solid .316 attack percentage but Stanford answered with 16 kills as well as three service aces. The Waves threatened to make a run and were down just 10-12, but back-to-back aces courtesy of Jordan Inafuku sparked a 5-0 run that gave the Cardinal a lead that could not be overtaken.

The Waves return to the court on Thursday, Feb. 23 for a 7 p.m. match at Long Beach State.
