Schleppenbach Part of USA A2 Volleyball Squad

MALIBU, Calif. - J.D. Schleppenbach of the Pepperdine men's volleyball program is part of the USA Men's A2 Volleyball Team that is currently competing at the Pan American Cup in Puerto Rico.
Schleppenbach (Ventura, Calif./Ventura HS), an outside hitter, recently completed his senior season with the Waves. On Pepperdine's all-time lists, he ended up third in games played (407), tied for third in total digs (692) and ninth in digs per game (1.70). He had a standout senior year, being named to the All-MPSF third team after averaging 2.86 kills and 1.88 digs while hitting .316.
The Pan American Cup began today and runs through Saturday (May 29) in San Juan, Puerto Rico. The U.S. has won the two past titles and is a three-time winner since it started in 2006. Teams competing this year are: Brazil, Colombia and Canada in Pool A, Puerto Rico, Mexico and the United States in Pool B and Dominican Republic, Argentina and Venezuela in Pool C.
This is Schleppenbach's first experience with a USA indoor team. He was an alternate on the USA Beach Volleyball team that competed at the 2008 World University Championships.
