Four Earn MPSF Volleyball All-Academic Honors

MALIBU, Calif. - Four members of the Pepperdine men's volleyball team - Brent Schirripa, J.D. Schleppenbach, Rodnei Santos and Tyler Jaynes -- were named to the Mountain Pacific Sports Federation All-Academic team today.
In order to be selected, a student-athlete had to have a minimum 3.0 grade-point average, be at least a sophomore academically and have competed in at least 50 percent of the season's matches.
Schleppenbach (Ventura, Calif./Ventura HS), a senior outside hitter majoring in international business, was named to the All-Academic team for the third time at Pepperdine. Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil), a senior middle blocker majoring in psychology and sociology, earned the honor twice at Pepperdine and once at Brigham Young.
Schirripa (Los Angeles, Calif./Crespi Carmelite HS), an outside hitter who graduated in 2008 and was working on a master's degree, made the team for the second consecutive year. Jaynes (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay HS), a junior middle blocker majoring in mathematics, made the team for the first time.
Schleppenbach also made the All-WCC third team this season, while Jaynes was honorable mention.
Pepperdine competed its season with a 16-10 record and finished tied for fifth in the final AVCA national rankings.
