Men's Volleyball Bounces Back, Sweeps #4 BYU

PROVO, Utah -- One night after the #1 Pepperdine men's volleyball team had its eight-match win streak come to an end at #4 Brigham Young, the visiting Waves came back with a 30-26, 30-22, 30-23 victory over the Cougars in Mountain Pacific Sports Federation play on Saturday night.
The Waves (10-5, 9-4) split the weekend series with the Cougars (10-7, 8-6) after falling 30-28, 25-30, 30-27, 30-18, on Friday night.
Freshman opposite Maurice Torres (Riverside, Calif./Orange Lutheran HS) had 14 kills, junior outside hitter Cory Riecks (Auburn, Calif./Placer HS) had 12 kills and senior outside hitter J.D. Schleppenbach (Ventura, Calif./Ventura HS) had 14 digs to go with his nine kills.
Senior middle blocker Rodnei Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil/BYU) had eight kills and eight blocks. Junior setter Kasey Crider (Granite Bay, Calif./Granite Bay HS) recorded 47 assists.
On Friday, BYU outhit Pepperdine .441 to .298, but tonight, it was .362-.205 in the Waves' favor.
