#1 Waves' Win Streak Ends at #4 BYU

PROVO, Utah - The #1 Pepperdine men's volleyball team's eight-match win streak finally ended in a 3-1 loss at #4 Brigham Young, 30-28, 25-30, 30-27, 30-18, on Friday night in a Mountain Pacific Sports Federation match.
The Waves (9-5, 8-4) and the Cougars (10-6, 8-5) meet for the second night in a row in Smith Fieldhouse on Saturday (March 6) at 7 p.m. MT.
Junior outside hitter Cory Riecks (Auburn, Calif./Placer HS) led Pepperdine with 17 kills. Senior outside hitter J.D. Schleppenbach (Ventura, Calif./Ventura HS) had 12 kills and freshman opposite Maurice Torres (Riverside, Calif./Orange Lutheran HS) and senior middle blocker Rodnei Santos (Sao Paulo, Brazil/BYU) had 11 kills apiece.
BYU outhit the Waves .441 to .298, had a 13.0-7.0 edge in blocks and got a match-high 22 kills from Robb Stowell.
